Cakewalk Plasma 2003

Cakewalk Plasma Download

As you know Plasma runs on Windows 98/Me/2000/XP. I don't have any specific knowledge of Plasma 2003 but if it needs specific drivers you are probably screwed since there is no Vista support listed. Win7 has the capability of running XP Virtual machine (available on Windows 7 Professional and Windows 7 Ultimate, allows you to run multiple Windows environments, such as Windows XP Mode, from your Windows 7 desktop). It slows the software down and may not be good for Plasma. I've used it for some old software. I did a lot of searching and could not find specifics to your question. I take it from your question it is not working.

How can I use my Cakewalk plasma 2003 software om my new windows 7 computer? - Cakewalk Plasma 2003 question.

Posted on Jan 05, 2011. Yes, but it may be more expensive then buying the new Cakewalk pyro Audio Creator 1.5 ($40). The cost will depend on your version of Windows 7 among other issues.

From the Cakewalk site: 'pyro 5 and the other versions listed above will not launch properly under Windows 7. They will not function at all.' The work-around is to run the software such that it thinks you are using an older version of Windows. There are a two ways to do this with one computer: 1) run a dual boot system with Window 7 and an older version of windows, 2) run a virtual computer with an older version of Windows inside the Windows 7 system using Parallels, VMWare or Virtual PC.

In most cases for either option, you need a licensed version of the older Windows OS. If you have Windows 7 Pro or Ultimate, you can get the virtual computer with XP for free. Download Microsoft's Virtual PC and then the XP mode package.

Install them in order and install your Cakewalk software to the XP computer as if that is the only computer. The only issues can come up is that peripherals (like printers) can't be installed on both the real and the virtual computer and sharing files has to be done by saving to optical or other external media. I'm not sure how much of a learning curve would be involved but there is a free audio editor available. See for more information - the Win7 version is still in beta but works. I hope this helps.
