I'm writing because at work I had an small network with a Windows 2003 Server with Active Directory, DNS server and DHCP server services running. A couple of days ago I bought a Linksys WRT54GL, which I flashed with DD-WRT v23 SP1. My plan now that I have the router is having the DHCP server and DNS server services under the router's control. With the DHCP I've got no doubt, my doubt it's only with the DNS server service. At the router I can active DNSMasq to have the DNS server and DHCP server services all together.

I started to look information about installing a Windows 2003 Server with Active Directory and without DNS Server service in the same computer (note: when you install the Active Directory service, the installation force you to install the DNS Server service in the same computer). I found this article: I've been looking without success if DNSMasq accomplish the two conditions mentioned in that article. Anyone here has done with success what I'm planning to do? Advent 7088 Laptop Drivers on this page. ? If the answer is 'yes', how can I do it?

Thanks to anyone that help to clear my mind. Anyway you can add SRV RR to dnsmasq. Check that filterwin2k line is commented out, and the syntax is: Code: srv-host=_ldap._tcp.homedomain,server. 3d Custom Girl 2012 there. homedomain,389 Before this you have to set up dnsmasq to serve the standard DNS query-s for the domain, add all the host what you need. Not clear for me, why do you want to use your router as the LAN dns.

You can configure the server, to forward WAN queries to the router, and LAN queries will be resolved by the server. I was thinking in concentrate all the LAN & WAN management in one place: the router, but perhaps it's a better idea the one that you sugested me at the end of your reply.

Thanks again. CaveMaN DD-WRT Novice Joined: 07 Jun 2006 Posts: 2 Posted: Thu Jul 13, 2006 12:25 Post subject: Your welcome The full router dns make sense, if you can put the domain controller on it Display posts from previous: Page 1 of 1 ->All times are GMT Navigation.
